For the iOS / watchOS app Wristling (腕听) · Effective 2026-10-25
In short: we don't collect any of your information. Wristling has no account, no developer servers, no analytics, ads or third-party SDKs. Recordings, transcripts, health and location data are stored on your Apple Watch and iPhone. Only if you set up a cloud AI service yourself does the app send the text it needs directly to the provider you chose.
1. Recordings and transcripts
- Recording: Apple Watch records in short segments and sends them straight to your paired iPhone over Apple's WatchConnectivity. The watch copy is deleted once the iPhone confirms receipt.
- Transcription runs on your iPhone with Apple's speech recognition; audio is never uploaded. (In the rare case on-device recognition is unavailable, the system recognizer may be processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.)
- Speaker recognition: voiceprints are computed and stored on your iPhone only, to recognise people you named.
- Retention: audio is deleted after the number of days you choose (7 / 30 / 90 or keep). Text stays until you delete it. Deleting the app deletes everything.
2. AI (your choice of provider)
- Apple on-device model: runs on your iPhone; nothing leaves the device. Insights use only the on-device model by default.
- Cloud providers (e.g. Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or a server you run): enabled only after you add one with your own API key. The app then sends the transcript text needed for summaries, recaps, matters and answers directly to that provider, never through us. That provider's privacy policy applies.
- Phone, ID and card numbers are masked before sending by default, and you can mark any segment as never sent to AI.
- Information from Health (sleep, workouts, stress estimated from heart rate) is not sent to cloud providers unless you turn it on in Me → AI. Raw heart-rate values and coordinates are never sent.
3. Health data
With your permission, Wristling reads heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep and workouts to show how you felt along your timeline. It never writes to Health, never stores health data in iCloud, never uses it for advertising, marketing or data mining, and never sells or shares it.
4. Location
With your permission, Wristling records places you stayed (no route tracking) using little power, and uses Apple Maps to turn coordinates into place names. Places are stored only on your iPhone.
5. Permissions
| Microphone (Watch) | All-day recording in segments. |
| Microphone (iPhone) | Enrolling your own voice, only when you do it. |
| Speech recognition | On-device transcription. |
| Health (read only) | Heart rate, HRV, sleep and workouts for your timeline. |
| Location | Names of places you stayed. |
| Reminders | Adding to-dos you confirm. |
| Notifications | Alerts when recording is interrupted. |
| Local network | Connecting to your own AI server on your network, such as Ollama. |
Apart from the watch microphone, every permission is optional and can be turned off in iOS Settings.
6. Recording other people
Recordings may include other people. Tell them and get their consent before recording, and follow the law where you are. Wristling lets you pause (15 / 30 / 60 minutes or until morning) at any time, or pause automatically at night.
7. Children
This app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the effective date above.
